Christine Cunha | Walk (VIS 165)

Series documenting walks near campus in the early hours of the morning and late at night. Juxtaposed in the original presentation with text reflecting on encountering others on this often personal journey. “People are usually unaware of the width of their walk and are unconscious of the technicality involved in getting around their bodies.” / “I try to be aware of the people behind me and my own pace and in general, and as a courtesy, I walk as close to the left as possible to negate the trauma of the thought process involved in the pass for others.”

Jeffrey Robbins | New Intimacies (vis 165)

Series considering how digital photographs, and specifically “nudes” are brokering new forms of establishing intimacy — at once more personal, private, but also much easier to reproduce/disseminate widely.

Alice HSIEH | Face Mask (VIS 60)

In response to an assignment on portraiture, Hsieh applied face paint and acrylic paint to her face to create “a second skin,” and proceeded to document a process of molting. Through this exercise, she reflected on people’s “search for ways to either cleanse or remove imperfect skin,” imagining what it would be like to have the ability to molt skin like a reptile.
